The Healing Miracles of Jesus

A Physician and Her Faith

“It was the early morning hours of May 16, 2021, when Glen awakened me. He was having severe chest pain, and as a physician, I knew he was having a serious problem. I prayed continuously for the next thirty-six hours. Never have I understood more completely Jesus’ words, “I am with you always.” (Matthew 28:20) Thus began my study of the twenty-seven healing miracles of Jesus as recorded in the Gospels. I analyzed them both from a spiritual perspective and a foundation of my medical training. Sometimes, the miracle elements reminded me of something from my own Internal Medicine practice. I was blessed immeasurably by doing this study. I pray that anyone reading this book will find that Jesus is their only answer.”

After achieving a BA in chemistry, Dr. Ellis pursued her interest in mathematics, achieving both an MA and MS with original research in optimal control theory and mathematical modeling in medicine. After working for major oil companies as a computer analyst, Dr. Ellis felt led to pursue a second career in medicine and graduated from the University of Texas Medical School at Galveston with an MD and subsequent residency training in Internal Medicine.

While in her fourth year at medical school, Dr. Ellis studied in the humanities department for an elective month. During this time, she developed an interest in Jesus’ healing miracles. With this foundation, Dr. Ellis practiced medicine for twenty-five years, both as an office practitioner and hospitalist. She retired from Mercy Hospital System on 11/2019.

Dr. Ellis is married to a retired pastor, Glen, and together they continue to pursue the ministry of Jesus Christ. They have three children and three grandchildren.
